During my pursuit for higher education, I was tasked with choosing a real-world problem, conducting thorough research (qualitative, quantitative, user, etc.), and then designing and prototyping a solution. For me, I immediately knew what problem I wanted to address:
How might we simplify cooking for those who experience dietary restrictions in order to improve their overall relationship with food?
This case study was conducted over a 12 week period, and while for some it may feel like a lifetime, it did not feel that way for me. Some of the professional hurdles that I encountered and their direct effects were:
• Learning a new program: Having never used Figma prior, I feel inspired to incorporate it into my workflow.
• Time Management: On top of attending school as an adult, I was also on maternity leave, resulting in me having to be incredibly efficient with my time.
• Digital Accessibility: Expanding my current knowledge of accessibility in design has made me realize that I need to be more inclusive with my design approach.
• Research and Ideation: A phase that truly never ends, I found that I needed to be more flexible in my problem-solving and open to changes at any stage.
Due to the length of my presentation, what is shown on this page is merely a glimpse to the work that has been completed. To review the whole breadth of the project, I recommend the following links:

Though the class is complete, this adventure is far from over. Design is iterative, and when you’re especially passionate about a project, it’s never truly finished.
It’s been eye-opening to work on a passion project such as this, and I hope that I can continue to expand upon it further in the future, incorporating new capabilities that directly impact user accessibility and app functionality in a positive light. By working on this project, I feel that I’ve grown more not only as a designer but also as an ally to those with dietary restrictions.
I hope that as you delved into the world of SafeSwap, you’ve felt the passion that drove it to be designed.

At the University Students’ Council at Western University, I worked independently as well as with my team to tackle large-scale initiatives that ranged from internal documents to advocacy campaigns. With students in mind, my work was tailored to engage, empower and inform.
Alongside my daily work, I also managed a team of 4 interns, where I served as a mentor and fostered a professional work environment for them to grow in. During this time, I took initiative to improve the intern onboarding within the Creative Team, creating countless documents ranging from practice project briefs to internal instructional guides on processes within the USC.
The following pieces are some of my best work (but not limited to) from my time at the USC.

My work at Northern Reflections was mainly digital, though not limited to, as our team was small but powerful. In my time working with Northern, I helped to maintain the everyday digital updates while also helping to evolve our digital templates and elevate our brand with crisp, engaging designs. Fast-paced and ever-changing, my work adapted to the companies’ needs throughout a very uncertain time of life. The following are some of my favorite pieces that I produced in that time.

As children mature into young adults, they face various challenges from their peers, the most common one being bullying. In a heteronormative society, LGBTQ youth are the most commonly bullied minority–and the effects of bullying can be devastating. Through the use of powerful infographics, social media campaigns, and presentations at local educational institutions, awareness is raised in hopes of evoking change.

A compilation of all of the miscellaneous freelance work I have done over the years. Mostly illustration, each of these projects has a fun story to tell.
» Crystal City Banner: Meant to be used for a DnD campaign! Vector Illustration.
» Conductor Book Cover Design: Base and alt-designs for up-and-coming author Ashe Rhyder, and their first book that is currently in the works. Very excited for the later opportunity to layout the whole book.
» Puppy Love: A blossoming branding project for an LGBTQ+ dog walker hoping to expand her business while showing their pride.
Playful and full of character, this type illustration was meant to showcase those qualities to their full potential through colorful illustrations and patterns. Playing with a common type specimen phrase, the illustration highlights the flexibility and personality of the typeface, Kari Pro.
